 type Press release
Young people who believe that a career in construction is just about hard hats and muddy boots could be in for a surprise during National Construction Week, 13 - 17 October.
London Underground's Engineering Directorate, with the co-operation of other companies working on engineering construction projects around the Docklands, have produced Docklands Revival. This week-long event will provide an insight into the industry for Engineering undergraduates and "A" level students studying science subjects.
Visitors will be given a tour of some of Dockland's key sites and visit an exhibition where careers advice will be available. The high spot of the day will be the opportunity to take a bird's eye view of working sites, including the Jubilee Line Extension's Canary Wharf Station, from the top of Canary Wharf Tower.
David Hornby, London Underground's Director of Engineering, said: "the Docklands area has many exciting construction projects underway.
National Construction Week Docklands Revival is a splendid opportunity to show them off to students who may be considering a career in engineering construction, a choice which I commend to them".
