Nicola Shaw, HS1 Ltd chief executive said: "HS1 welcomes today's announcement by the government and the positive go ahead for HS2. HS1 has proven a great economic benefit nationally and particularly for London and Kent. A direct link between the two lines creates a welcome extension to the European high speed rail network that will further benefit some of the country's key economic regions."
