Following publication of the RSSB's Overview of Safety Performance for 2014, a spokesman for the Rail Delivery Group, which represents Network Rail and train operators, said:
“Safety on the railway is of paramount importance and sustained investment and targeted improvements mean that Britain now has the safest major network in Europe for passengers. The passenger and workforce fatality rate on our railway is almost 16 times lower than in France and 11 times lower than in Germany, and we continue to drive up safety standards.”
