::: RMT ScotRail staff walk out

c2c
LTS

This franchise. originally branded LTS, was to have been one of the first three to start, in February 1996.

However, the discovery of ticketing irregularities was followed by suspension of the process while the Rail Regulator investigated. The contract was withdrawn and new bids invited from the remaining contenders. The winner Prism Rail was acquired by National Express in 2000.

LTS became c2c in 2002, by which time the slam-door fleet had been almost entirely replaced by Class 357 units. The original franchise was extended two years in 2011 and was further extended in May 2013. It was replaced by a new contract announced in July 2014, starting in November.
